COMMUNITY AND PUBLIC HEALTH Action Committee (AC)
Overview of CPH and Two Projects
Domestic Violence Project and Nutrition & Health Project
Interested in learning more about issues dealing with public health and the community?
Then join any of the Community and Public Health action committees!
We are involved with organizing and supporting programs and events that serve the community and promote public health issues such as staying healthy. We hope to raise awareness of public health issues and to get pre-med students more involved with advocating for these issues because future physicians as well as other physicians need to know what is going on and how to deal with these issues.
Some of the ongoing projects of the CPH committee include:
- Advocating the issues of Senior Health
- Promoting the importance of nutrition to children
- Teaching kids how to stay healthy
- Volunteering at the LA Ronald McDonald House

Nutrition andFitness Project
The main goal of the Nutrition and Fitness Project is to educate young children in the importance of eating healthy balanced meals. Nutrition project members will be able to visit a local elementary school to teach elementary students about the new food pyramid and what a healthy balanced meal looks like. Additionally, one of the underlying goals of the nutrition project is to educate elementary school parents and teachers the importance of nutritionally balanced meals to a child's health.
