AMSA MISSION: AMSA PRE-MEDICAL CHAPTER AT UCLA
UCLA Pre-medical AMSA is an organization that caters to pre-medical students on both ends of the spectrum:
- Those who have simply begun contemplating a career in medicine and
- Those who have definitively decided upon becoming a physician.
Our goals, therefore, are simple: we strive to guide premedical students in their undergraduate and graduate careers so as to make them the best they can be, both as future medical school candidates and full-fledged physicians. We do so by:
- Making students more aware of the rigors and requirements of the premedical curriculum,
- Creating opportunities for them to get involved in the more traditional activities such as research and volunteering,
- Fostering an environment of camaraderie and guidance to help students avoid the pitfalls and common stressors that accompany such a rigorous prospectus.
However, an important aspect of our programming also revolves around the examination and proactive rectification of the issues and discrepancies that plague patients, physicians and the healthcare field. As such, our vision is not merely of local and present import.
We parallel the ideations and movements of National AMSA and hope that through helping informed, dynamic students get into medical school, we will have future physicians committed to changing the face of medicine as we know it today.
