Dr. Feinman, M.D., of Doctor Evidence will be hear to talk about the ever-growing field of evidence-based medicine and how it will affect you as premeds (and future physicians):
- Come see a demo of revolutionary technologies that will transform the healthcare industry.
- Doctor Evidence turns medical students into medical experts.
- Dr E teaches medical students how to critically analyze clinical studies and make informed medical decisions.

Mentor-Mentee Social with Medical Students from Geffen SOM
This will be a great way for pre-meds to receive one on one interaction with a medical student and get all and any questions answered about medical school, the application process, and life as a medical student.
In order to attend this event, and be paired up with a medical student, you must do BOTH of the following if you did not already sign up at the week 7 meeting:
Sign up as an AMSA member. If you are not already a member, you can download the application at (www.amsabruins.org) and turn it in with your membership dues at mentor-mentee social.
Email the Student Life Co-Chair Noopur Jain (noopurj@ucla.edu) with your name and whether you are already a member or will be bringing your membership application to the social.
(This is the last even this quarter. Members please remember that three events are required to maintain active status.)

You are invited to attend the 1st Annual Pre-Health Forum. If you are wondering about any of the following, then you are highly encouraged to attend:

- What kinds of resources are available on campus to help you?

The agenda for the event is as follows and a list of panelists is below:
12-1pm: Insight into the various admissions exams and application processes: find out what the requirements are for each health field and how to maximize your chances of getting in.
1-2pm: Panel of current medical students from UCLA, Stanford, UCI and UCSD: each representative plays an important part in the application process, see brief bios below.
1-3pm: Tabling and resources fair: talk to the panelists and representatives from local dental, optometry and pharmacy schools and student organizations on campus that have resources to help, including volunteer and research opportunities.
Panelists:
- Muhammad Shaikh – 4th year Med Student at UCI. He was born in India, raised in Canada, and attended several different community colleges before receiving an undergraduate degree at UCI. He is now pursuing a joint MD-MBA at the UCI School of Medicine.
- Liza Mirkovskaya – Med Student from UCSD. She was born and raised in Russia before coming to California to receive her MD at UCSD. Now, to help pay for the cost of school, she also teaches for Kaplan as an MCAT instructor.
- Simon Ronen Bababeygy – Med Student from Stanford. He is involved in the admissions process and can provide great insight into what Stanford is looking for in candidates.
- Chris Sarkis – 2nd year Med Student from UCLA. Chris assists with interviews for students applying to the David Geffen School of Medicine and can give advice about how to prepare.
Admissions representatives from Western School of Osteopathic Medicine – If you're considering other options besides Medical school you'll hear about how an osteopathic school differs and what their requirements are to apply.
Don't forget to register! Everyone who registers is eligible for a discount on a Kaplan MCAT, DAT, OAT, GRE or PCAT course. If you have questions you can contact Kelly.Fuson@kaplan.com, or call (310) 824-6929.
